FEBRUARY, 2008 UPDATES |
29-Feb-2008: Happy Birthday to all the "Leapers" out there... unfortunate folks who only get to celebrate their actual birthday once every four years. And hey, it's on a Friday this year. w00t! These folks have only to blame Julius Caesar for Leap Year (or as he probably had wanted to spell it, Laep Yaer), having adopted Cleopatra's (accurate) calendar and spread it throughout Europe during his time of reign. You can read the whole amusing story (no really, it's written amusingly) right here.

27-Feb-2008: Today I've gone and made a new YouTube video! I've made a few of them actually, and I'll be uploading them every few days to keep you whippercrappers coming back. Today's video features my Roland Juno-106, which is my first-ever synth. Watch me try and explain how to create a sorta faulty unison mode on the thing, and then do the usual million-note pud-pulling shortly thereafter.

22-Feb-2008: When I'm not busy drawing Hamster & Puppy, et al, for your viewing pleasure, I am acquiring my own viewing pleasure elsewhere. How, you ask? Well it is no secret that I am a big fan of Toothpaste For Dinner, a very popular & clever minimalist webcomic. But it's the relatively unsung Roller Chester Videos I've been digging on for a couple months now, and today it appears that the series is coming to an abrupt, typically unpredictable end with the ninth episode. I can't wait to see what videos this Drew character comes up with next, if any. After all it was his Dr. Synthesizer video linked from Matrixsynth that introduced me to him in the first place.
OK, back to drawing Hamster & Puppy et al.

14-Feb-2008: HAPPY V.D. EVERYBODY! I dearly hope each and every one of you, my beloved umop.com visitors, gets the full squeeze on with all your respective chosen boobies and ding dongs, even if they're your own.

11-Feb-2008: Also got some good news and bad news today; I've decided to put the Daily Comics on hold for a little while. That's the bad news. The good news is that I'm mainly doing it to preserve time to work on RETARDED ANIMAL BABIES 20!

11-Feb-2008: The latest WCCC COMIC will be in local CT print this weekend, right after Valentine's Day. But you get a sneak preview, because you're cool enough to frequent umop.com!

8-Feb-2008: GEAR TIDBITS: I just purchased a big, white custom Roland V-Synth last week (formerly used on tour by Madonna's keyboardist Marcus Brown), and I'm already going to be selling it in favor of something else; probably a plain ol' Korg TR. CONTACT ME if you're interested in the V-Synth. It's had a $1000-value world class FORAT-designed modification done, and it's maxed out with memory. I paid $1600 plus shipping, and so shall you.Why pick a TR over a V-Synth? I'm just not a fan of the V-Synth's all-around tonal palette, popular as it is otherwise (what the hell do *I* know). Don't get me wrong, the Triton engine in the TR isn't all that hot either. But at least it has a decent variety of organs and pianos, which, surprisingly, the V-Synth sorely lacks. And since this board is meant for routine use as a workhorse in an '80s band (news on that to come!), I've got to go with the staple sounds. I'll be selling not only the V-Synth but also, eventually, my 01/W FD after backing up a slew of MIDI data from floppies! It'll be extemporaneous (at best) after the TR comes home
