JUNE, 2007 UPDATES
29-June-2007: Just wanted to give a quick shout out to Picozzi over at Hartford's #1 rock station, WCCC, on his birthday today! For the uninitiated, for about five years now, every few months or so I'll draw a comic strip ad for the station, which appears in local CT independent newspapers like the Journal Inquirer or the Advocate.

And no, I didn't get an iPhone today. Those things are overpriced.

25-June-2007: In this week's installment of Sci-Fi Guys (episode 5) on Newgrounds, Lenny, Dudley, and Bungi travel to Delicia IV to rescue succulent lobsters from a certain demise! How do they do that? Lenny tries making Bungi smarter using "virtual reality." Ah, those quaint old '90s plotlines... will they ever get old?
25-June-2007: By the way... I'm on a kickball league!

Providence Kickball plays weekly games in a dusty little dirt field, frequently muddy with rain, beer, and the blood of dozens of scraped knees. In case there was ever any doubt, it's about the most fun you can legally have. I'm pushing 40 years old soon and I'm playing kickball with about 120 other very immature (but mostly sane) adults. What else can I really say but "37 is the new 7." :o)

Anyway, my team is called "The Holy Rollers" (here's our MySpace page, for what it's worth), and the PKL website was made by none other than fellow Roller and friend Carl. Love the 1880s design. Check the complete schedule (if you're a local, that is) for Holy Rollers games and come on out & get drunk with me. My next game is Saturday, July 7th.

24-June-2007: Today I felt it necessary to add my mother's old Lowrey D-325 Holiday Organ to my SOLD SYNTHS page (scroll down for it). I added a few paragraphs jabbering beloved memories of the thing, and about how one day, when I have room for it, it shall be mine at last.

20-June-2007: Go check out my latest YouTube Video for a song called Inner Circus. It's one of my favorite tracks off my Parallax CD, "umop apisdn."

18-June-2007: Another week gone by that fast? I guess that means Sci-Fi Guys 4 is already up on Newgrounds! And it's the spoof-stuffed time travel episode! This one's got PG-level language in it so hide the 5-year-olds before clicking it.

By the way... these classic old Sci-Fi Guys episodes, all 11 of 'em, are on a dandy (and cheap) DVD (scroll down a bit) for your televised viewing pleasure. Order soon... I really don't have very many of these collectors items left. My ex-wife threw most of them out...

14-June-2007: I'd like to use today's update to call attention to my friend and co-worker Ferris Scott Thomas' online art gallery located at OchreMedia.com. I'll assume he's deferentially playing on the word "mediocre" in the site's name, but it would be inaccurate. This guy is good.

Scroll down to all the thumbnails; there isn't a single bit of art there I don't love on some level. He incorporates not only zen-like composition, but I admire the way he patiently awaits the perfect line to occur to him before drawing it. The result is a very clean style, and his character comes through so well in the characters he creates.

He's also a very talented programmer at Left Brain Games, and has been entertaining all his friends for years and years with an exclusive invite-only email-slash-blog called The Chum. Here's to you, Ferris!

13-June-2007: Today my entry in Engadget's Mascot Contest was selected as Second Runner-Up.

Admittedly, the Grand Prize winner's design was a lot cooler. Actually, a lot of the honorable mentions were a lot cooler, too. I particularly liked the Killbot and Geeko!

12-June-2007: With yesterday's upload of Sci-Fi Guys 3 winning Daily Feature, it marked my 50th Newgrounds Portal award! I'm very grateful for all the positive ratings & reviews my films (27 so far) have gotten on the site, and if you're one of the raters or reviewers, THANKS! My Newgrounds Profile shows the complete list of all accrued awards.

One thing the site doesn't keep track of (yet?) is how many Monthly Awards are accumulated (for the top five films in any given month). For what it's worth, I won one in April for Retarded Animal Babies 18, and another one in May for Virus Alert, bringing my total amount of Monthlies to about a dozen. So thanks for that too!

Sorry there was no new information or fun content in today's update except this long-winded "yay me" bullcrap linking to a bunch of flicks you've already seen. For what it's worth, I updated my Sold Synths page to include nine more synths that I owned once upon a time... but most of you won't really give a hoot. :o)

11-June-2007: It's Monday, and you know what that means! Time for another episode of Sci-Fi Guys on Newgrounds! This one features "Satantron," voiced by my good friend and future best man, Carl Mitsch.

While I'm on the subject of vocal talent, the three main Sci-Fi Guys are all voiced by guys I still work with. Dudley the robot is actually Andy Keplinger, owner/prez of Left Brain Games. Greg Izzo plays Lenny the alien; he's a very talented programmer at LBG, and has a few of his own games showcased on his site, Random Neural Discharge. And then there's Bungi, voiced by my good friend Peter Bradley, 3D designer and filmmaker. His site is Trilobite Pictures. I feel compelled to mention that Pete is actually voicing Bungi's high-pitched voice that way completely naturally, with no artificial pitch changing the way I do the voices in Retarded Animal Babies!

9-June-2007: Been a while since my last one, but here's a new YouTube Video called "Hygrogyrum - Ultra Synth Solo". OK, so that's a whorish title.

It features my Access Virus kb synth. Hygrogyrum is just the snooty Latin word for mercury; a good song title for a slippery metallic puddle of notes and scales. It's the very last track on my first Parallax CD, "umop apisdn."

8-June-2007: I've finally gotten around to updating my SYNTH GEAR PAGE tonight. There were far, far too many synths I no longer own on this page, so they have been moved to their own page: SOLD GEAR.

I've also created new pages (with embedded YouTube demo videos) for my Korg Microkorg and Metasonix S-1000 Wretch Machine! If you're into synths, you won't be disappointed. I've also got pages coming soon for two new keyboards I'm still waiting for the UPS guy to deliver: the Moog Little Phatty Tribute Edition, and an all-white custom Roland JX-3P made by CustomSynth in the UK! I traded my Pro One for it; that's how badly I wanted this thing. It's got a fabulous custom made wooden body, and the PG-200 Controller is built right into the unit. Amazing craftsmanship. I'm in synth hog heaven this month.

7-June-2007: I uploaded my video "Superfast Synth Soloing" to The Fame Game today. Head on over and give it a 5-star rating, and ye shall be rewarded in Heaven. Amen.
6-June-2007: My ALPHABOTS paintings were donated to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, RI today. Not only were they unable to get any bids on eBay (boo hoo), but I'm much happier with the paintings getting seen by countless kids every day than collecting dust in some house somewhere. Yay!
5-June-2007: Check out a new bonus track I uploaded for anyone who likes my Parallax music: IAPETUS. It's a progressive little off-time tune with a cool solo I made last year, and made entirely within GarageBand. I know it's odd that I'd record something that uses none of my synths, but it's definitely easier to bang something out this way, and doesn't sound half bad!
5-June-2007: Today I uploaded Sci-Fi Guys 2 to Newgrounds. Lenny, Dudley, and Bungi travel to the sexy sex planet of Sexxus Six to cure Bungi of an illness that's snot very pleasant at all...
4-June-2007: It's been almost three years since I've bothered adding anything to the Book of Beings (my big silly pile of original Dungeons & Dragons monsters... yeah, yeah, I know). Well today I was going through some old drawings and came across a cool one that looked like a minotaur holding a lightning bolt (I think it was for someone's logo back in my freelancing days). Not wanting it to go entirely to waste, I've dubbed it the FULGURATAUR and added it to the collection. If you were a teenage nerd in the '80s you should really spend at least an hour sifting through the BoB! Your inner pencil-neck will not be disappointed.
3-June-2007: A few months ago I completed this cool Lion Dance Game for AZN (Asian Network TV). Part of my job at Left Brain Games is making games for corporate clients, occasionally clients as large as this one. It's a fun game... check it out! (Not a sponsored link... just figured you'd enjoy it!)
2-June-2007: I put the card I made for Steve's 40th in the FUNHOUSE. It's me and Steve as kids, wondering what life would be like in the far-off year of 2007 AD!
