In 2015, on Ultimate Pi Day (3/14/15, 9:23:56), I launched in nerdist fashion this webcomic about keytars and kittens. They are two of the internet's favorite things, and two of mine as well, so I figured it might be something a lot of you would enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing and drawing it. Your number one question might be, "why are they all holding keytars?" And to that I am prone to reply, "how come nobody ever asks why they're kittens?" Keytar Kittens is the latest of a whole lot of comic strips that I've attempted. I've had strips last as long as ten years (The Packrat, specifically) and as little as ten hours (not included on umop.com... yet?). This one lasted somewhere around four months. For purely ergonomic reasons, everything got drawn in Flash instead of Photoshop. It's probably akin to using a tennis racket to play hockey, but after being an animator in Flash since 1999, I really got used to the tools. I paid my buddy Keith's 14-year-old prodigal son to create a pretty nice-looking website for Keytar Kittens, but after a few technical issues, the site became lost to time, so the comics themselves are now archived here as a basic slideshow. Nothing ever came of any of this except for a few semi-notably upvoted Reddit submissions. If you like, you are invited to read the Keytar Kittens Character Descriptions. |
